This Arturo Fuente Don Carlos No.4 cigar is made in the Dominican Republic. Outside, you’ll find a Cameroon wrapper. Inside, the binder is Dominican, and the filler is Dominican. This is a Corona cigar with a length of 5.13 and a ring gauge of 43.
“Don Carlos” refers to Carlos Fuente Sr., the son of Arturo Fuente. Don Carlos has since left this Earth, but his legacy is in the hands and humidors of cigar lovers around the world. And fittingly for a man so passionate about producing the finest cigars possible, his namesake line is among the best ever made by the House of Fuente.
Not only do Don Carlos cigars feature a beautifully rich and satisfying blend of tobaccos, but they also feature what some consider to be the pinnacle of cigar making. The Don Carlos Eye of the Shark vitola earned a stunning 97 rating from Cigar Aficionado and was named Cigar of the Year in 2017. The man himself has passed away at that point, but he left us with a parting gift of which we are a little unworthy. But out of respect, we shall enjoy it, and we invite you to do the same.
The Don Carlos cigar line uses an African Cameroon wrapper to create luxurious aromas and a handsome look to match. Inside, of course, is the signature Fuente blend of aged Dominican tobaccos, some of which have developed for up to ten years.
The company is now in the hands of Carlos Fuente, Jr., known simply as “Carlito.” Perhaps someday we´ll have a best in the world blend named after him. Until then, we´re content to revere the Don Carlos line, which is as good as cigars can get.
